California Department of Motor Vehicles

The DMV has several locations in the San Diego Area. It is recommended that you make an appointment to obtain a driver's license or register a vehicle.  Check out the website on-line for sample tests, forms, handbooks and other information you might need.  http://www.dmv.ca.gov/

  • If the ship is out of port:  Personnel reporting for duty to a deployed unit usually do so at the Transient Personnel Unit, or TPU, on Naval Station San Diego at 32nd St. and Harbor Drive . Personnel can call TPU at 619-556-3182 to check in.
